Gabriel Koomson is a mentee who joined the Ahaspora mentoring program through our partnership with the Yale Young African Scholars Program (YYAS) in 2019.

He spends pretty much of his day working on school assignments, reading contemporary literature, politics or planning the next entrepreneurial venture with his teammate.

Gabriel stated that meeting with wonderful people through Ahaspora has broadened his horizon as a young adult. He took advantage of several opportunities in Ahaspora to improve his academics and career skills especially during the COVID-19 lockdown.

His mentor, Padmore Othniel has been very supportive. He encouraged Gabriel to volunteer through his foundation (Tasso Pattern of Leadership) and had dinner together with him a few times at very nice restaurants.

In Gabriel’s words:
Programs like the MTN Pulse Just Be Series with Ahaspora have enormous benefits. I learnt and run with one idea from these meetings; which was “ No one is ever too young to cause a change”.
This summer, I visited Ecole Polytechnique, Paris and the University of Oxford, England to present a research on “Illegal Gold Mining in Ghana Utilising Systems and Design Thinking Techniques”.

Many thanks to Ahaspora for the exposure.
